Hermosillo,
capital of Sonora, Mexico, is well known for its perfectly
lined streets and modern architecture. Some of the city's
buildings and monuments are over 250 years old making
this a historic location. Among its tourist attractions
are: San Antonio Temple, Holy Spirit Chapel, Asuncion
Cathedral (eighteen century), Government Palace -where
there is a mural representing the History of Sonora-,
Plaza Zaragoza, Regional History Museum, Madero Park,
Culture House, and the Plaza of the Three Cultures.
Close to Hermosillo is the "Cerro de la Campana",
where there is a magnificent viewpoint where you can
see the entire city as well as the Abelardo Rodriguez
dam. For those who enjoy ecology, there is the Ecological
Center, created to obtain information regarding the
ecosystems found in Sonora, as well as to promote appreciation
for the natural resources and heritage from the Sonora
culture. Also, 35 miles from the Capital is "La
Pintada" area, where cave paintings can be found.
